4 Tricks For A Perfect Interior Paint Job

When you paint the interior of your home, you want the paint job to look as nice as possible. You spend a lot of time on your home, and you are going to notice if your living room wall is full of mistakes and strange paint streaks. If you want the interior paint job you do to look great, you need to use some tips from the painting professionals to get the best possible application.

Roll the Full Height of the Wall

When you paint your wall, you want to run the roller from the top of the wall all the way to the bottom of the wall. This will require you to start each stroke at the top of the wall and will require you to walk back a few steps as you bring the roller all the way down to the bottom of the wall. You are going to want to try to do this in as smooth a motion as possible. Also, make sure your work area is clear so you can safely walk forward and backward a few steps across your entire work area.

Keep a Wet Edge

As you work, you are going to want to keep a wet edge. What that means is that when you finish one stroke, you are going to start the next stroke a couple of inches over, painting over part of the wet paint and applying some of the paint to the dry wall. This is what is known as creating a wet edge, where you are continually applying paint to both the wet and dry parts of the wall at the same time.

Reload Your Roller Often

As you work, you need to reload your roller often. As you work, you will get a feel for how often your roller needs to be reloaded. Depending on the size of the wall and the absorbance of the roller, you may need to reload your brush after every stroke, or after every few strokes.

What you don't want to do is push your roller to get out every last bit of paint. This will leave you with streaks on your wall where there is not as much paint, which will decrease the overall quality of your paint job.

When you paint the interior of your home, make sure you roll the paint the entire length of the wall. Keep a wet edge the entire time you are painting a wall, and reload your roller often as you work.  Use these tips to create a professional-looking paint job, or hire a professional who already knows all of these tricks to paint the interior of your home.
