Different Types Of Paint

Commercial painting services offer a lot of options. However, you may want to understand some of the choices you may run into before getting work done. Here are the differences between different types of paint

Types of Paint/ Finishes:

  • Eggshell

Eggshell paint has a slight gloss and covers blemishes well. However, it has a rougher finish than the other options.

  • Gloss

Gloss paint has the shiniest finish out of the options. However, it also requires several coats to get a thick and even finish. It also doesn't cover imperfections as well as the other options.

  • Matte

Matte paint leaves a plain finish without gloss that doesn't stick out too much. This can be perfect for an office building where the focus should be on work. Unfortunately, matte paint may require some updating after time. It will take several coats, but it will cover flaws in the wall.

  • Matte enamel

Matte enamel paint is similar to matte paint but lasts longer. It is very easy to clean, and it has a plain finish.

  • Satin

Satin paint has a neutral finish that's not glossy or matte. This finish is very popular for high-traffic rooms because it is easy to clean. Just remember that it will highlight imperfections.

  • Semi-gloss

Semi-gloss can usually cover a wall in only one application, which makes it popular for people painting their own walls. It's glossy, but not as glossy as gloss paint.

Oil v Water v Latex Paint

  • Oil-based paint

Oil-based paint lasts longer than the other options, but it's hard to pick up any accidental spills unless you have paint thinner. There are alkyd and linseed oil-based paints. Alkyd paint is better quality. The main advantage of oil-based paints is that they provide the best quality. Oil-based paints are not as healthy or environmentally-friendly as water-based and latex options. It also takes longer for this paint to dry. If you need to apply multiple layers, this can take a long time.

  • Water-based paint

The greatest advantage of water-based paint is that it is the most natural option. There are less harsh chemicals. Also, it dries more quickly than the other options, so you can get your job done much more quickly. However, the job won't last as long as oil-based paint.

  • Latex paint

Latex paint can't take the same amount of abuse as oil-based paint, but it's very easy to use and clean up. It's also easier to clean after the fact. Finally, it doesn't yellow or crack. Contact a company like Trend for more help.
