Painting Is A Simple And Effective Way To Improve Your Home For The Holidays

With Christmas just around the corner, it isn't going to be much longer before your family and friends show up at your door step. While most people are worried about preparing a dinner menu and ensuring that they have enough food for the number of guests that will be at their home, you are worried that your house is not visually ready for company. And, unfortunately, you don't have enough time for an all-out remodel or a budget that will allow you to go crazy in the décor department. Luckily, there is one thing that you can do that is easy on your budget and can effectively beautify your home in just enough time: a new coat of paint! Here are a few tips to ensure that your interior painting job really spruces up your home for the Christmas season:

1. Focus on the Busiest Room.

If you are on a seriously tight budget or low on time, you may want to focus on painting the one room of the home that will be the busiest. What room will you and your guests spend the most time in? Where does everyone congregate to visit while dinner is being prepared? This is probably going to be the room that you want to paint. Alternatively, if your budget and time will allow, you may want to paint both the "visiting" room as well as the dining room since this will another room where a significant amount of time will be spent.

2. Paint Only Accent Walls.

If you are really strapped for time or if you are painting larger rooms, you can consider painting accent walls in a bold, attractive color. This offers a fresh look for the holiday season and it always leaves the space available for completion at a later date.

3. Consider a Holiday Color Scheme.

While this idea may bring red and green to your mind, it doesn't necessarily mean that you have to go all out Christmas colors – or at least not together. Red is actually a very popular color and would work well in a dining area as well as an accent wall, while green would match very well with a silver-grey hue. These colors would work well with your holiday décor and would also look great in your home throughout the entire year.
